Being raised in a humble home with little luxury yet filled with joy of family and hope of success. I’ve always understood that money isn’t happiness or we don’t all begin at the same place. In a home where intelligence and an education is admired I’ve always strived towards a future with a good education. Helping others achieve their goals has always been a dream of mine. Influencing people to do well and change their lives for the better are also something I’d like to achieve. Achieving my financial goals will give me the necessary means to help others through financial struggle which will give me an abundance of spiritual wealth.
My family has always given me their full support in whichever way they can both financially or motivation. My mom has always accepted the decisions I make for myself. Support has always been present for my education, which isn’t something everyone can say. My parents have been there for me no matter what is going on in their lives and I’ve always felt the need to repay them later on. My middle school was a fantastic school which really prepared me for the future though their values and principles. The St. Andrews community is a very close and supportive community which is still helping me out and making sure I’m doing well in my education. I really like what they are doing providing private school education for those in low income households with something to offer to the world. I hope that the life that I have worked so hard to create and now maintain, will allow my future students to thrive as individuals. My family was raised on many rules and many principles, but the most important influence that my entire family tree has in common is one thing: love. My teaching philosophy and life philosophy are very much alike. I want to love the unloved, teach the untaught, and believe in the ones that others have lost hope in. There is no such thing as a lost cause in my mind, and I believe that the principles of hard work and love that my parents instilled in my mind growing up have absolutely shaped me into exactly the person that I am today.…

We value honesty, because we would rather have truthful people in our life who would not hesitate to tell us what is wrong to our faces, rather than talk behind our backs. Education is also valued, because my family wants the next generation to achieve a better quality of life. Hard work is extremely valued in my family. It springs from the hard work that my Great-Grandma had to endure to raise my Great-Aunt and Grandma. As a child it was instilled in me by my parents that I would always have my education no matter what it took. It has been true to this day. I believe that I have done my job to show them why it is even worth it in the first place to help me to continue my education.…

One thing about me is that I hate to disappoint people. I did not come to school at Duquesne for my parents or anyone else but myself, however, one of the things that still motivates me to do well is that it will make my parents proud. The stories were filled with the struggles their family members before them endured to provide for their families. From these conversations came life lessons instilled in Maureen. She believes in hard work, is thankful for the many blessings bestowed upon her, and never forgets to always show the upmost respect for her elders as well as the kindness that emanates from her selflessness. With all that being said, she made a point to stress that her parents wanted the life of their children to be easier than the struggles they endured to provide for themselves and their families. “We never know the love of a parent till we become parents ourselves,” said Henry Ward Beecher. I agree that I will never figure out the greatness of my parents until I raise my child and go through the same experience that my parents went. Parents always try to do the best and give the best to their children. Their affection to their child is so huge that it is immeasurable. The method of giving this love and care might be wrong or misguided, but their intention for wanting their children to live better lives is always right.…
