It also depends on perspective because depending on how it is viewed the meaning could change and so its effect. Other ethics that could be applied are duty based ethics, outcome based ethics, religious ethical standards, and Kantian ethics. These many ethical principals offer many ways in which to interpret a choice made by someone and so offer many ways of understanding.
The main ethical principals in this case are egoism, utilitarianism, Virtue and Deontology. The other ones that could be added for good support would be Kantian ethics and duty based ethics. Egoism is just about as simple as it sounds and relies on the person thinking about themselves and how the situation would affect them and what choice they should make based on that. Utilitarianism is when a choice is made based on whether or not it will do the most good to the most amounts of people. Compared to egoism this is a better method when thinking through situations that may arise in life. This is because sooner or later they would be dragging down the company due to their own egoism, and because of this the boss had to take matters into his own hands and move the project forward in order to expand the company and do the most good for the greatest amount of people. So the ethical principal of utilitarianism would be applied. So the overall best choice for her and the company would be for her to not tell the board member the truth. In doing so she will be able to keep her job and be doing the best for the most people. The good that the company will do after growing with its new partners will be much more than if they had stayed isolated within themselves and not joined with anyone else to help more people and make more
