Literature review
The interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) was developed as research method by Jonathan A. Smith. This qualitative research method was inspired by the philosophical works of Husserl, Heidelberg, Merleau-Ponty, and Sartre.
IPA has been enriched by many contributions from researcher across the world, such as Osborn, Simon, Reid, Flowers, and Larkin.

Research Methodology
Four Congolese women immigrants recently arrived in United States of America shared a common experience of acculturation process and were trying to make sense of their life experience while they were struggling to adapt in their new culture. The main purpose of this study was to explore and to better understand Congolese women immigrants’ lived experience and their own perception of their life while struggling to establish in the United States of America. (2009), a purpose homogenous sample” and a very small sample (2 to 6 individuals) must be the target of researcher when selecting participants for an interpretative phenomenological study. My sample criteria were the nationality of the participants which was Congolese, the ability to speak French, the level of education (college graduate), having lived less than 3 years in USA. Less than 3 years because experiences are still fresh in the memory. Nine people responded to the criteria, but four were retained because they were the most articulate. The participants ages ranged from 25 to 47 year-old. Two of them were married, one was a single mother, and the last one was a single without children.
