Management Accounting may also be known as cost accounting, corporate accounting, or industrial accounting. Management accountants prepare reports and forecasts for managers within a company. They track and analyze internal financial information. While I used some sources to put together this slide presentation, I read over many more articles on the topic which all served to help me decide my initial study question - should I proceed toward a career as a public accountant or a private accountant? My research led me to the conclusion that private accounting within a company would be the best fit for me personally. Private accounting has the advantage of a significantly higher salary, but also is less stressful, with little to no travel and the potential to move up in a company to the higher position of Chief Financial Officer. I have to take into consideration that I am a single mother with two children, so the stability of employment as a private accountant would be most suitable. Research for this project answered my primary question and also provided me with lots of extraneous information about the type of work in which I might be interested and the kind of work environment I can expect to find.
