I did a lot of research on how to follow my major in a way that could allow me to work and gain experience while studying. I began my path as a student at Miami Dade College where I obtained my Associate in Arts of Accounting, at the same time, I got an entry level job as an Accounts Payable Specialist in the Accounting Department of a bank. Since I had completed all the pre-requirements of the school of Accounting at FIU, I was a step closer to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree from a United States University, I passed successfully the entrance exam for the program, and now, I am only a few credits away from my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of 2014 the Accounting field provides employment for 1,332,700 people, and it is expected to grow in an 11% for 2024. Every institution, either public or private, needs accountants, and besides of being a well-paid job, with the median pay of $67,190 per year as of 2015, it is also a very interesting job.
