I am a current undergraduate student attending St. John’s University as an accounting major in my sophomore year. I am writing to you with the intent of applying for the Accounting/Budget Intern position as seen through the St. John’s Career Link resource. After living on Staten Island for more than a decade, I have grown a desire to become more in tune with the Staten Island community. I would like to use the knowledge I have gained through my accounting courses to assist in and to better understand the process of maintaining the budget needed to support the Staten Island community. I have volunteered at the Jewish Community Center on Staten Island to provide food and other necessities to people in need and through this experience have learned how to organize and maintain an efficient system of distributing packages and scheduling appointments.

Through this experience I have interacted with a variety of people and gained a better understanding of communicating with people in general. I would like the opportunity to intern with the Staten Island Borough President’s Office to gain a better understanding of the Staten Island community and the process behind maintaining the budget to support the community as a whole.
