Patient safety is one of the biggest concerns in health care. While everyone is responsible for the safety of patients, nurses are often the primary caregiver. The nurse is accountable for the patient, and the patient’s safety. When the nurse takes accountability for their actions, it ensures better patient care and a safer environment for the patient. Nursing accountability and patient safety go hand in hand.
Patients trust nurses to speak up for them when they cannot speak up for themselves. Nurses are advocates for patients in many things, for example, perioperative nurses have to gather information
