I think parents are hesitant to talk about sexutality because they feel like there is no need to and if they bring it up it might just confuse their child. Many parents feel that if their kids are ready to talk about it, they would be the ones to bring it up. According to Our Sexuality by Crooks and Baur, “You might be quite surprised by how open your parents are to your interest. The tell-the children-when-they-ask parenting approach is common” (Crooks/Baur, 2014, 5).
