Africa is divided into a great number of ethnic cultures. The word civilization affects the way people think of African history because we were taught that being civilized means to be more developed and more advanced. When in Africa they do things differently than we do and their way of living to them is developed to them. These words affect African history because people base how Africans live on how we live in the United States. The general meaning of tribe as most people understand it is associated with primitiveness. The truth is that Africa has as much history as anywhere else in the world.
