Accompong Maroon Festival
This festival is held in Accompong, a historic Maroon village in St. Elizabeth. The celebration takes place on the birthday of Maroon hero, Captain Cudjoe, and commemorate the signing of a peace treaty between the Maroons and the British Empire in 1739. The festival includes a parade, Maroon ceremonies and feasts, as well as traditional singing, dancing, drumming and story-telling.

The show takes place in Kingston each year, and is the most prestigious orchid show in Jamaica. Attendees can view a wide variety of orchid on exhibition, buy plants and gardening essentials, as well as attend lectures and demonstrations.

Jamaica International Kite Festival
In its 13th year, the Jamaica International Kite Festival is a one-day event that takes place in St. Ann, 10km from Ocho Rio. The kite contest is held on the morning of Easter Monday, and cash prizes are awarded to winners of competition categories such as funniest kite, smallest kite, the kite with the longest tail, and most innovative kite. The festival also includes performances by top local musicians, dance contests, stunt kite-flying demonstrations, a ferris wheel and a waterslide.

The annual Independence Day Parade can be seen on the streets of Kingston and includes floats, classic cars and marching bands. The parade is followed by a celebration of Jamaican music in the National Stadium, where more than 2,500 performers take to the stage. Entry to the Grand Gala is free of charge.

The Jamaica Spice Food Festival
This one-day food fare in Ocho Rios celebrates traditional Jamaican cuisine, as well as provides a platform for manufacturers to promote new food products. Locally-produced items are also sold at the fare, and include coffee, meat, chutney, rum, liqueur, fruits and sweets. The festival also features book signings, lectures by authors, cooking demonstrations, and local musical entertainment.

The Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament
The Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament is the oldest – and one of the most prestigious – marlin fishing tournaments in the Caribbean, attracting anglers from around the world.
