In the exciting, event filled book, “Notes from an Accidental Band Geek,” Erin Dionne describes the life of a high school band student thoroughly. Erin Dionne keeps the book interesting at all times, by describing the drama that shows up in a high schoolers life. This book is written informally, making it seem as if the book is somewhat of a journal or diary. These reasons alone will make any reader jump at the opportunity to read, “Notes from an Accidental Band Geek.” As a result of Erin Dionne describing life as a high school music student perfectly, I would hand this book of to any music student or band director. “I tuned him out. I was too hot. And the stupid mellophone was conducting heat like it was made of brass. Ha-ha. I wished for a cold drink and a pair of sun-glasses.” paragraph two, page 26. The phrases “I was too hot.” And “I wished for a cold drink and a pair of sun-glasses”

I was most definitely lying on my back.” Paragraph three page twenty- eight. By using the phrase “six or eight people hovered over me,” we can infer Elsie was not aware of her surroundings. Ultimately, I would hand this novel off to a young musician, knowing they will get to read about how secondary school unfolds, how life as a musician in high school may unravel, most importantly knowing any reader will be entertained.
