As human beings, we desire a life comprised of wellness, happiness, and enriched with quality. In order for these desires to maintain a level of trueness an individual’s health must be maintained. In a perfect world, these ideals could be easily met without any barriers or complications however, we live in reality. Within this world, particularly in the United States, access to health care is a barrier for some individuals. This issue impacts millions of American citizens on a daily basis and becomes their normal. In addition, this reality can negatively impact their lives for the worse and disrupt their personal levels of wellness, happiness, and quality. A huge barrier to care is lack of access which negatively impacts health outcomes of this population. In order to improve the access to care, various aspects are identified and illuminated. In order to help close the gap within this health disparity, education plays a major role within the community. The community must be educated on the importance of obtaining a primary care provider. Primary care providers can benefit this vulnerable population by increasing trust in their providers, promote better communication among patients and providers, and lastly, increase the chance of patients receiving appropriate care. In order to make this goal within reach strategies must be demonstrated in order to keep primary care providers within the rural communities. These strategies include the recruitment of medical students from rural backgrounds, promoting more funding for rural health facilities, and teaching medical students necessary skills in reference to the environment to ensure success. Success is the most important aspect regarding to healthy outcomes. In order for the rural population to obtain more positive health outcomes, primary care providers must reach success in order to stay open within these environments. In order to decrease discouragement within the population Healthy People 2020 also listed guidelines and strategies to reduce the waiting times in doctors offices and emergency departments. The strategies include hiring more facility workers in order to speed up the long and ongoing wait time process (Healthy people 2020: 2016). These strategies will not solve the ongoing healthy disparity issue regarding the rural population however, it can potentially decrease the barriers to receiving health
