Accepting Failure In Soccer

Many times I have come to find that success is hard to obtain, and failure is inevitable. Soccer has taught me many lessons, from working hard to never giving up. There have been many instances when failure was the only option but I overcame it.

In the first years of my soccer career I began on the local soccer club's B team. But after a few years of great perseverance, I was able to make a spot on the A team. Although I was happy with the progress of moving on to a better team, I was unsatisfied that the coach never played me. I urged my mom to go the extra mile and to take me to private training sessions with a trainer. The failure of never playing fueled the drive to push myself to become better and before long I began to gain playing time. After working hard, I finally found myself in a starting role for my team.
Learning to accept failure from a young age helped me to endure challenges later on. During my first soccer season in high school I was elated to get the opportunity to be on the varsity soccer team. I was on the team until after the first scrimmage when the coach told me I would not be on the team and would be moved down to jv. This moment brought me back to reality, and made me realize

I have been a starter on varsity for the past 3 years and currently am one of the captains as a senior. As a person I was able to channel the lessons these circumstances taught me into many areas of my life. Whether it was in school or at home anytime I was faced with failure I have always found a solution. Had I quit in either one of these circumstances I would not be where I am today. I learned how to push myself harder, and how failure is always going to be a step in life. But most importantly I learned to enjoy every moment and even my failures because in the end you will look back, smile, and appreciate where those failures got
