This year the two people that gave speeches were Hillary Clinton, for the Democrats, and Donald Trump, for the Republicans. They both had to give persuasive speeches that showed what they stood for and what they plan to do in their presidency term. The speeches are supposed to have a major impact on the people watching them and the people giving them want to gain trust and respect from the people that are watching. Thesis statement here. Trump brought up how his opponents want sanctuary cities. Trump does not think that it is fair that people who live in America can not benefit from the United States, but illegal immigrants can. His next main point was crime which is a huge topic in the news right now. Trump wants to bring back law and order to America. He wants people to treat cops with dignity. This appeal is super important when you are considering acceptance speeches for a possible president. Donal Trump used the ethical appeal ver well. In his first couple of minutes he bring it up. He says, “I have a message for all of you: The crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon, and I mean very soon, will come to an end” (Donald Trump acceptance speech). He connected main points in his campaign to things that will matter to most people. Hillary Clinton stated, “Americans are willing to work and work hard” (Hillary clinton speech). This shows that she also wants to show people that she cares about them and she wants to start taking care of people. On this appeal I think Donald Trump did better because he made it a point to use it in his speech. He showed what he wanted to do and he showed how he wanted to do

In a recent presidential debate, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton argued their character, and if they are fit to serve as president of the United States or not. Throughout their debate they depended on both rhetorical fallacies and strategies to build their arguments and prove their capability to run this country. Although the arguments made by the candidates seem to be just repetitive nuances of common issues, this debate gives us an idea of the duties and character traits a president must obtain. From start to finish, the candidates in this debate use rhetorical strategies to make their arguments stand out.…

Recently my two classmates have shared their opinions on two speeches titled Gay marriage in America and Georgia tech freshman convocation speech. My first classmate has given preference to the second speech. It seems that he is more inclined to Shelby as a person with charisma who is capable to attract attention but not to the content of his speech. Thus, Shelby, as a college student (ethos), tells very emotionally about the major things which every student of his college must know. He actively uses tone and gestures to express his thoughts and make the audience believe what he says.…

As America approaches the end of the primaries, candidates shift their attention to outlining their specific term goals if they were to be elected the U.S. 45th President. Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, presented his vision for American foreign policy on April 27, 2016, hosted by the Center for the National Interest. Trump plays to national pride, submitting that America should be put before all else, he also uses past victories to suggest that America once was great, but now is faltering, due to Democrats such as Obama and his constituents; namely Hillary Clinton. Trump first breaches listeners by playing to their pride: reassuring Americans that they should come before anyone else. Once formalities are over, Donald Trump jumps strait in to his prime directive, he shares with listeners that the “American people and [their] security” should be put “above all else”.…

Donald Trump was an unexpected runner for this year’s presidential election. At first, many people thought his running for the presidency was a joke. Unfortunately, as time went on, what many thought to be a joke suddenly became more serious as more and more people began to show him support and he shows no sign of dropping out anytime soon. Which is unfortunate since much of what he says is far from being presidential, let alone professional. From what I’ve seen of his speeches and debates, he often makes terrible statements about other candidates as well as other groups of people, building off of peoples hate to rally more support.…

Ultimately, Donald Trump’s victory in this election will be good for America. He has the education and experience in business and finance to know how to be successful in these areas; hopefully, he will treat the United States as his new “business” and he will improve our economy and high levels of national debt using his fiscal knowledge. He also will provide jobs for the unemployed by making it easier on businesses to keep more of their income and therefore be financially able to hire more people. Many people believe that he will allow more people to start and expand their small businesses because of his plan to lower business tax. If businesses start booming, the economy should noticeably change, too.…

On September 6, 2012, President Barack Obama used ethos and pathos in his Democratic Nomination Acceptance Address to deceive his audience into voting for him. Through pathos, Barack Obama targets families struggling to pay for necessities like a home or schooling, parents who have a child in college, and students with dreams who have a low chance of succeeding due to financial situation or legal status, into voting for him. Pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response. In this specific part of the speech, Barack Obama begins to talk about why he ran for president. He begins talking about jobs and how they were moving overseas and families who had no money to pay anything,…
