Rc/Ar is a reading program developed to help kids with literacy be “Testing their comprehension” of novels and giving them points if they pass tests on the books. Along with those they take a test to check their reading level giving them a score based on their answer accuracy. Sounds good right, well I believe otherwise for many reasons.

It even encourages students to read books only because they give a large amount of points, such as War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy or Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand which are both worth over 100 points, even if they don’t catch their interest. “Students also reported that the pressure to earn points changed the way they approached independent reading. Which is 1/837 or 0.001193828 % of the world's books. Meaning there are many books in the world that students will not be allowed to read because they did not give points and are thus not a challenge, or above their level. Just because Ar/Rc did not catch wind of the book or did not think it good for school aged persons.
Counter: Rc helps slightly It is in fact proven that Rc/Ar does help, but not by that much. And definitely not well enough to pay the obligatory fines because it actually does more harm than good thus my claim remains stable and accurate.
Conclusion- So in conclusion Ar is harmful towards the development of literacy in youth and adolescents and should be eradicated from the academic system. This will help majorly in learning and many people agree with my claim. Including university educated people which are a trustworthy source of information. So to wrap it up Rc/Ar is a system that hinders learning in students instead of what it is meant to do, so for it to function properly and help with learning, eliminate it and it’s disappearance will spark new interest in reading and even help create stronger literacy
