Accelerated Master's Program

I seek to make a change in this world that ripples beyond my immediate circle. Often individuals, particularly students, are told that this world is a cruel place and they must learn to withstand it. My hope as a future educator is to teach students that the world is not a place to be withstood; that is not their purpose: they are here to make the world a little less cruel. Perhaps I could do this within my personal relationships but, as a Christian, I am called to go out into the world and share the gospel. The gospel is overflowing with sacrificial love and I hope my career mirrors the love I have received from Christ. While applying to a regular Master’s program is a typical route, Christ has called me to live an atypical life – to be an outcast, to sacrifice my …show more content…
The Accelerated Master’s Program is the most conducive for doing such. My goals, Christ’s goals, extend beyond simply teaching. The systematic inequalities of education weigh heavily on my heart and it is my calling that I enter the education system to work against sinful inequalities. This is not an easy calling and will require dedication and perseverance – qualities which I possess but wish to have fostered, particularly in a Christian atmosphere. I have only attended Wheaton for a full semester, but in that short time I have experienced a radical outpouring of love that I know does not come from the world. I want to take this same love and run out into the world with it, touching students’ lives, reminding them there is more to the world than withstanding it. I am simply Christ’s vessel, and I believe Wheaton’s Accelerated Master’s Program will not only fill me up, but cause me to overflow with a love and passion for the next generation. It is not enough to simply have the mindset which wishes to change education and impact students; one must have the heart, full of empathy and love, to make the changes

Upon my arrival at Commonwealth Honors Academy a mere twelve days ago I was ignorant to the fact that I was going to learn so much in my time spent here, but now I look back and realize that I have gained so much knowledge and I have acquired more details to add to what I knew before arrival. Overall I have learned that most things in life require constant attention and effort to make them truly work and that anyone you come in contact with and create an influence with will then, in turn, make a larger circle of influence that can quickly become bigger than you can ever be. The universal themes that have had the largest impact on me are the themes of Happiness, Friendship, and Sovereignty of Education. It was Aristotle who defined happiness…

My goal in life is to leave every place, person, and situation a little better than I originally found it. My background experience as an educator, for more than five years, makes me a great candidate for educational missions. Similarly, my outlook in education makes me a great volunteer, for I believe that a person’s knowledge can always be shaped, regardless of age or previous teachings. Also, I would be a great volunteer for disaster relief missions, for I am very gentle and patient. Correspondingly, my soothing demeanor allows me to be great at helping people who are facing tragedies.…

Any rich story weaves in symbolism and foreshadowing. This enhances the meaning of the narrative, gives the audience clues to the future, and sets the stage for multiple themes. The drama of the Bible checks all of these boxes and then some. Although there are many characters in the first formative years of Israel’s existence, the character of Joshua, leads Israel into a temporary Promised Land, which foreshadows the role that Jesus plays in the unfolding narrative. Joshua was critical to the establishment of Israel as their own country, leading them to a land to call their own.…

Former Princeton University president Harold T. Shapiro believes, “All higher education institutions, both public and profit, both nonprofit and for-profit, and from state colleges to research universities to community colleges to a wide variety of technical and professional schools, serve a public purpose.” In similar fashion, Derek C. Bok comments that “All universities are prominent members of their communities by virtue of the vast complex libraries, laboratories, classrooms, and offices they require to carry on their work. Try as they may, they cannot go unnoticed by their neighbors. With their legion of students and their impressive buildings, they are all too visible to those who live and work nearby.” Like universities, theological…

Let me first start off start by saying how lucky and fortunate I have been my entire life. I come from an incredible family; middle-class, college educated, white---within all of this I have recognized the privilege I have been born into and the calling within me to give back in any and all ways possible. However, this did not come without having hit rock bottom. In college I felt very much that I was going through the motions: get good grades, make my parents proud, go to graduate school, and maintain scholarships--- all of this combined led me to a series of bad decisions but ultimately have put my life in the most beautiful place to date.…

The attacks of the enemy were severe in my family and in my childhood. As a result of misguided and deceptive information, I landed in places which took away from the original plan of God for my life. However, as I gained new ground through my rebirth, The Holy Spirit became powerful and formed a new soul and a new mind in my being. As a result, I began to understand my purpose, his plan, and the process I have to go through to achieve those goals.…
