-Therapeutic interventions: Interventions are preformed targeting the abnormal findings. See interventions for acanthosis nigricans. Wellness interventions include primary and secondary prevention practices, such as screening. Sokol (2018) recommends the following for patients younger than 65 years: cardiovascular disease risk assessment every three to five years, annual blood pressure screening, if the patient has risk factors for hyperlipidemia screening annually, screen annually for obesity with BMI, counsel all patients to exercise during annual visit, if the patient has hypertension or hyperlipidemia screen for diabetes mellitus with annual visit, and cervical cancer screening for women at

Patients in this age cohort should also be screened for immunization deficits during the annual visit, and the patients should be screened for depression, domestic violence, and for the use of alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug use during the annual visit. A general skin exam should be performed for all patients to assess for skin malignancy. Due to the patient’s age and lack of risk factors, she does not need the following screenings: sexually transmitted disease screenings, colorectal cancer screening, breast cancer screening with mammography, and osteoporosis screening with a bone mineral density test. From these screening recommendations, she does not need another pap smear for another 2 years. She was screened for diabetes, obesity, immunization deficits, depression, domestic violence, and the use of alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drugs.
