“Seventh Grade’’ Academic Paragraph

Victor is a boy who is continuously embarrassing himself in order to gain a girl admiration. For example, in the story, Victor was..trying to get Teresa to like him, he kept trying but at the same time he was embarrassing himself. ‘’ Yes now somebody give me an example of a person- you, Victor Rodriguez.’’ ‘’ Teresa, ‘’ said automatically. Some of the girls. giggled.(pg.3 para.9,10) They knew he had a crush on Teresa. He felt himself blushing again. This quote means that Victor has a crush on Teresa and some of the girls already knew about and they giggle. This quote means to me that Victor knows the girls are going to tell Teresa that he likes her and he’s embarrassed of it. This shows that Victor was embarrassed

Gary Soto manages to cleverly capture the many emotions, reactions and challenges that middle school students may face on the first day of school in his short story, “Seventh Grade”. The story follows Victor, the main character, from his arrival at school until the afternoon, as he sees old friends and attempts to attract the attention of a girl he likes named Teresa. Victor has signed up for French as his elective in hopes of having a class with her. One of the many strategies he uses to impress her is to raise his hand when the teacher asks if anyone knows French. When the teacher directly asks Victor a question he “tried to bluff his way out by making noises that sound French.”…

I already liked this claim because when I made this statement to myself I knew that once you do something bad or embarrassing you will always be thought of as the person who did that. Alfonso is very similar to many other children who experience the same things so obviously, there are examples of that. The first example I have is when the short story states, “Alfonso looked over her shoulder for a long time, trying to muster enough nerve to ask her if she'd like to go bike riding tomorrow.” This quote shows that he doesn't have enough self-esteem to ask her which translates into saying that his friends at school have told him that he could never get that girl so he doesn't have enough nerve to even ask her in the first place. The second piece of information that helps my claim is in the story when it states, “Ernie looked through the hedge, with one eye closed, at the girl.…

In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the character Victor Frankenstein withheld a great deal of obsession for power and control which was useful to illuminate the main idea of the novel. One gathers an insight on the desires a creator has for its creation to be without blemish, and gains an understanding for the aftermath of when that futile ambition is not met.
