The procedures and process in a Head Start
A formal developmental screening is performed to determine if sensory, behavioral and developmental skills are progressing as expected or if there are causes of concern and for further evaluation. It is the teacher's job to suggest the need for an in-depth evaluation. Head Start programmed screens all newly admitted students with the Brigance Screening Tool within 45 days of a child’s entry into our program. The teacher analyzes the screening form on each child’s strengths and to develop an individualized plan in all areas of development. Mr. Craig- “So she can identify herself awareness when she pronounces a word incorrectly. In other words, I want the child to be conscious of how they would pronounce certain letter's sound, by doing so, children would use their listening skills and articulations to teach how the word pronounces correctly. In the article “Learn to Access Speech Display in Children, by Dr. Gilles Pinette, “sometimes a speech and language pathologist will become involved to help the child develop better speech.” Furthermore, Amy case I observed how a speech pathologist can benefit a child with speech delay. This intervention will continue to enhance her thought-out her childhood years into adulthood.
