An individual may be doing his/her work originally, but desire to help a classmate with an assignment by providing the completed work or answers. This would violate academic integrity since the student is contributing to another student’s academic dishonesty. The urge to help a friend with an assignment that he or she needs to pass a class may be extremely tempting. Doing so would not only cheat him/her out of doing original work on the assignment but also cheat him/her out of the knowledge that he/she would have gained by doing the assignment without help. This knowledge could be imperative to him/her in the future for his/her career. If someone cannot do his/her school work originally, than how could he/she be trusted at a job to do real work? Throughout life, there will not be people there to do work for you. By practicing academic integrity in college and completing work the honest and original way, then integrity will follow you for the rest of your life with everything you do. Despite the ease of copying, this inhibits you from learning where things are in the system or how it actually looks. You would not get away with this dishonesty since the teachers know that the GAP exists and what it looks like. Completing the drawing yourself may not get you 100%, 90% or even 80% of the drawing correct, but it will show the professor you put forth effort to do your own work. By copying from the GAP, the student only proves he or she has very little integrity to the professor and he/she is not committed to his/her work or even being a student at the Academy.
With academic integrity, it is more important to complete the work yourself instead of cheating just to get a grade. By completing original work, it is beneficial to your knowledge and education. School not only increases your knowledge, but it increases your integrity and both are assets beyond school and into your life and career in the future. The integrity and work ethic you build up in school will immensely impact your future career, relationships, and personal
