Some may believe that the students don’t fully understand that cheating is wrong, they don’t know what counts as cheating, or they just don’t care anymore, but it’s actually the opposite. one way to help prevent cheating is to focus on learning rather than cramming for a test. If you take time with teaching and give the students different way to learn they will probably understand the content better(6). Giving the students more options than just an end of unit test like projects, presentations, and class discussions help alleviate the stress that major testing can cause(8). Everyone learns differently and by presenting different ways to learn you give everyone a chance to comprehend the subject at hand.
Student’s use cheating as a safety net. They use it when they feel like they are in danger, in this case danger can be seen as getting a bad grade. With the pressure others put on the students to be perfect and the best at everything you could see why some might feel the need to use their “safety net”.
