In this essay, I am going to explain about the concept of academic integrity and identify the consequences of malpractice. Academic integrity is the morals and honesty related to work and academic studies. Malpractice is when there is misconduct within studying or work related. I will also write about plagiarism and the consequences of it.
Academic integrity can be either good or bad. Examples of bad academic integrity is plagiarism and cheating. Whereas good examples are honesty and referencing where appropriate and needed. Academic integrity is important because it can help towards later choices and wishes – for example, if you have quite high academic integrity while studying at university, afterwards when you wish to go on to the career you desire, for example – According to Butlas, M.m., Schmuke, A. D., Davis, R. L., & Palmer, J.L.(2017) ‘Background Researchers have shown a relationship between academic integrity in the classroom and acts of dishonest behaviour in the clinical setting which is concerning for nursing faculty and the health care field’. The employers will favour someone who had good academic …show more content…
Consequences of malpractice can be – receiving no marks for your assignments and any work you have handed in. It could also lead to failing your course or being removed from your studying. It could also mean you are awarded with a reference at the end of your studying which could mean in reduces your chances of going on to employment and further studying. The consequences of plagiarism at university can mean you will not complete your chosen degree and will be penalised, this could be you fail certain assignments, you will not progress higher than a pass in assignments, you will be removed from the course and it could also lead to legal action being taken against
