My research project focuses on the imprisonment of women who will be charged and incarcerated for the murder of an abusive spouse. The question being “in the United States should women who have killed abusive spouses be incarcerated with have a prison term that mirrors that of standard murderer? My working thesis is that of the United States should create a law that requires the judicial system to evaluate the circumstances surrounding the murder of an abusive spouse before passing judgment on the offender. My research topics grounded in the idea that there are women who are serving prison sentences for up to years for the killing of an abusive spouse. There is no issue with these women being punished however some states hardly analyze the
