Abuse Of 911 Research Paper

We are taught from a very young age the numbers 911 and to always call during a real emergency. That is not always the case in our society anymore though. The national 911 services have gradually become an abused luxury and not a source for help in an extreme emergency. The three main service’s provided EMS, Fire, and Police have become attacked and abused. The abuse of 911 has become a critical problem that needs to be addressed as soon as possible in order the secure the future of emergency services and the safety of our future as a community. Many people will call 911 for many non-emergent reasons tying up lines that could possibly be needed for a life threatening emergency. Frequently civilians will use 911 lines as a source of information such as directions or times of local events and services. They recent media throughout the world has depicted police as a threat to everyday people, partially those of low income and or multiple ethnicity. So far this year alone they’re has been 87 police line of duty fatalities, 26 of them being from gun fire. One of the most shocking being the intentional murder of the Texas cop being shot from behind for no obvious reason while fueling his patrol car. Police have gone from respected to questioning whether they should consider changing their profession for fear of being targeted. A civil service worker should not have to worry about whether he or she is going to never come back home just because of the uniform the put one. The media should be banned from portraying the police as a danger and the people saying it. Yes there are corrupt officers, but there is corruption in every single profession. The media has become the danger, and the people on the band wagon following it. Not the police officers that get up every day to make our community
