The first would be to not do anything about the workers going past their normal shifts. Although the workers are keeping production on time we are not paying them for working the extra hours which is very illegal. Keeping this situation going would either make us more money or if someone were to find out we could be putting the whole company in a worse situation than it is already in. With that being said I believe that this should not be the right alternative.
A second alternative would be to investigate less expensive materials that still would satisfy Hobby Lobby. This would benefit us because we would not have to be using bad ethics. Even though this is a risk to our partnership with Hobby Lobby I believe it will show out customers right now and future customers that even though we cannot use the best of the best products it would still show that we would do whatever it takes to keep their business without company. Quality Control
What bothers me the most about this is that we the supervisor that reports to me knew that workers are working overtime and not being paid, I assume the owners do not know about this because I know how they are Christian based people and would not put up with these ethical standards. I suggest until we are able to pay the workers the money they deserve we need to stop making them work past normal shifts although this puts us in a bind I believe the owners would rather us be using good ethics rather than something illegal.
Conclusion
I know that our main goal is to stop this illegal practice because we put ourselves in a bad spot. I plan to keep finding different ways so that we could help our company without losing money.
