In the story, The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian, Junior tries to find his identity. He goes on an emotional rollercoaster of a year. He has to face many deaths, bullies, mean teachers, and even love. The first major thing that Jr. does is he leaves his school and goes to an all white school. His family is the only people who accept him for going to Reardan. This was his first step into Juniors long journey on finding himself. He goes to his new school and is automatically rejected from being normal or being part of the norm. On his first few weeks of school he is bullied and picked on by everyone. Everyone including teachers, students, and his entire home. His own reservation called him an apple. An apple is red on the inside and white on the inside, and by saying this is a complete slap in the face to Junior. His entire tribe hates him including his ex-best friend Rowdy. Junior eventually gets to the end of his wick when the school’s most popular boy, Rodger says, “Did you know that indians are living proof that niggers and buffalo fuck?” (Alexie 64).
