BA 200 was centered on teaching students how to be successful in business. Throughout the semester I began thinking about what I would want to see in my future business career, keeping in mind my individual strengths and personality. I also read and researched current prosperous companies and their business practices as well as learned what it takes to a be an effective business leader. Throughout the many learning experiences, including workshops, guest speakers, and team research papers, I have learned that in order to succeed in business it is important to have specific goals and develop a clear and thought out plan.
The guest speakers all had different paths to success, some reaching their goals early on while others failed and continued to try again. For example, while Marcus Collins discussed how his first venture as an entrepreneur failed when his record company got demolished by the market, Marcy Fischer talked about how she went to University of Michigan for engineering, got a job at Ford and continued to move up the corporate ladder. At the beginning of the course I was able to create a clear set of goals for myself that I wanted to achieve and a plan to complete them. While developing a plan is crucial, there is a lot more that goes into it than that. I have learned how important it is to remember that there is not just one path to success, and that I need to be able to adapt my plan to reach my goals. As I was faced with obstacles this semester, I changed my course of action in order to adapt to what was in front of me. Comparably to how I changed my methods in BA 200, in the future I will adapt my plan when working professionally in order to reach the goals I set out for

I work in a school district and I believe that a school is the heart of the community. It is where we meet our neighbors, where our children make friends and families gather for school activities. It is about people. When you have a neighborhood that is struggling, you will also find the school is struggling. As I watched the video Building Expectations, Portrait of Lincoln High School there was definitely signs that this community was careworn.…

Portfolio reviewers: My pre-ECU 2201 experience was my English 1100 course. While taking this class online, I learned how to make an interesting essay. Though this class didn 't require much research, it taught me how to write an interesting essay. Most of the time the professor gave us the decision to write whatever we wanted to write on. There might been some times where he wanted us to write a specific topic, but still had the chance to write whatever we wanted within the topic.…

Throughout high school, I have been involved in many activities. I started off with the STEM academy in my high school. In the STEM academy, we held special events that teach people, especially kids, about new experiments and science-related careers. I helped out the STEM academy by explaining people about the experiments, the purpose behind the experiments and cleaned or organized lab equipment. I was a part of the STEM academy for approximately three years in high school and I really enjoyed it because I knew I could make a difference in my community.…

Like most people, the third grade was a highly intense time. This was the period in which you had to decipher between wanting to learn how to multiply or learn how to divide first. Or for me the most difficult decision may have been choosing between kickball and tetherball during recess. But I had an issue of seeing adults doing things and if it was simple I would do them too. For me as a child I had what many considered an old sold.…

Reflecting on your previous writing can bring to light how your writing skills have improved and grown into your current writing. Previously, I had been exposed to a lot of writing and reading in my AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature classes in high school. The writing skills that I had learned in both classes dealt with analysis papers pertaining to a specific prompt or style. I also had been exposed to lots of literature, specifically short novels and poetry that I had to interpret. After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…
