Beside PEG, some other polymers which have a linear structure such as polyglutamic acid, polysaccharide have been utilized as polymeric drug delivery carriers. Also some complexes contain of drug and macromolecule which have a hydrodynamic size range between 5–200 nm have been used as drug carriers. One of these conjugates is Abraxane®, an albumin-conjugate paclitaxel drug, that is utilized as a therapeutic agent for patients suffering from breast cancer.145 It was demonstrated that using Abraxane® caused to increase the rate of therapeutic effects and also enhance the time which required for progression of disease and survival in patients suffering from breast cancer.

Minoxidil, an antihypertensive vasodilator medication, which was developed in the 1950’s by a company called Upjohn originally used to treat ulcers. During their experiments with dogs, they figured out that it did not cure ulcers, but acted as a vasodilator. Due to this recent discovery, Upjohn was able to develop a compound called Minoxidil in 1963 as well as being able to synthesize over 200 variations of the compound. The molecular structure and compound of Minoxidil is C9H15N50, made entirely of nonmetals with the molecular weight being 209.2483 g/mol, the UIPAC name being 3 hydroxy, 2 imino, 6 piperidin, 1 ylpyrimidin, and 4 amine. Fexofenadine has been examined in an assortment of doses for chronic urticaria. Examining fexofenadine 20 mg, 60 mg, 180 mg, and 240 mg, 2 large multicenter studies found dosages of twice daily 60mg and greater to be better than twice daily 20mg dosage.…

Doxorubicin is an anthracycline antitumor antibiotic effective against a wide range of malignant tumors, although the life threating cardiac toxicity limits its long-term applications. One potential approach to overcome the cardiac toxicity of doxorubicin is to use a glucuronide prodrug (HMR 1826) from which the active drug is released by the action of β-glucuronidase, an enzyme present at high concentration in the necrotic regions of tumor (Bosslet et al., 1998). HMR 1826 has shown to possess 7-fold higher tumor selectivity index and 100 times less cardiotoxicity than doxorubicin (Murdter et al., 1997, Platel et al., 1999). However, low circulation half-life and bioconversion only at the inflammatory cell infiltration sites have restricted…

Spray-dried powder particles of hygroscopic kanamycin with hydrophobic surface enrichment of rifampicin were successfully produced using a co-solvent system of ethanol and water. The kanamycin-rifampicin combination powders were amorphous in nature and flake-shaped in morphology. The aerosolization efficiency of kanamycin-rifampicin combination powder (% FPF: > 77.6) was higher than kanamycin-only powder (% FPF: < 29.1). The improved aerosolization may be due to the hydrophobic surface enrichment and/or change in particle morphology, which may possibly reduce interparticulate interactions. The combination powder was stable at 15% and 53% RH and 25 ± 2 °C during one-month storage.…

Thirdly, the impurities and acetanilide crystals must be separated. Therefore, the solution must be cooled, thus the solubility of the compound will decrease, and the compound will precipitate. Indeed, the solution must be cooled slowly – from room temperature then to an ice bath –, as a drastic decrease in temperature would cause the compound to precipitate too fast, thus impurities to be trapped within the crystals structure. Therefore, the compound will precipitate and be separated from the impurities, which will remain dissolved in the solution.…
