The faith of Christians today is essentially the same as the faith of Abraham. Faith is trusting that God will do as he has promised. Righteousness is obtained by faith alone. Abraham believed God because of this God credited it to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6). Paul used Abraham as an illustration of someone who was justified by faith alone apart from works of the law (Romans 4:1-25). This is the main similarity between the faith of Abraham and the faith of modern Christians. The main difference between the faith of Abraham and that of modern Christians is; Abraham had direct communication with God. Modern Christians do not have direct communication with God, yet today Christians have the full Canon of Scripture.
