Why? Yes Abraham Lincoln freed slaves, yes Thomas Jefferson wrote the Decleration of Independance BUT George Washington was a man who could understand us all on so many levels! Hes a common man just like you and me! Hes fought on the battle field he knows what its like to really fight for our country. He respected the concept of citizen president so much that he didnt even run a third time. Sure he didnt free slaves or write important documents but he understands us, because he is one of us. I believe that the best president of the united states was George Washington. George Washington was not only the best president of the united states but the best general in American military history. He started from humble beginnings working in agriculture in Virginia and later served in the military and actually fought for the British against rebels in the south and almost lost his life. He later joined the cause for American independence and worked his way up to General and filled the empty role of leader for the Americans in the revolutionary war.…

George Washington, in my opinion, contributed more to the presidency than Thomas Jefferson because he was the first elected president. Washington had to face the difficulty of constructing a government without any guidance. He valued the people of the United States rather than thinking of the people as a means to an end. Washington enforced laws and created a working government based on the constitution without creating an autocracy. He has achieved many great achievements during his presidency.…

So after his second term he "decided not to serve a third term and returned, once again, to private life" (Father of the nation, paragraph 8). Washington wanted to go back to a normal simple life, instead of leading the whole nation, not because he was tired, but because he believed that "his time of being a citizen leader was over" (father of the nation, paragraph 3). Even though he had many strengths over Jefferson and Lincoln, Both Lincoln and Jefferson excelled in things that Washington never would have done. Lincoln, first of all, did something that African Americans were waiting for, for a long time. He freed the slaves, and slavery was completely banished.…

George Washington Domestic I gave george Washington an A because of how he handled the farewell address. When george Washington gave the farewell address he gave examples of what the future generations should not do. I feel that his address helped lay a set of guidelines for each and every president that came and comes after him to follow. Another reason I gave him an “A” is because when the farmers were rebelling about the whiskey tax George Washington personally put on his general uniform to put down the rebellion. In doing so not only did he boost his popularity but he also showed the strength of the constitution.…
