Of course no one person is perfect and there are people who don’t really see him in the same glorious light. Some say he should have let the south go and that the Confederate states would have returned to the union one by one, eventually. Also some would probably say so many young Americans wouldn’t have been killed in such a horrible war, more than any war that came after. Many would say that he was in actuality a good politician but a bigoted racist. Freeing the slaves was only a political tool, a means to an end because of the civil war and how many lives were already lost. A one for all and all for one type of man. He was one of the most known supporters of abolishing slavery. The one who pushed for the 13th amendment. Every history lesson on Lincoln was in his favor. There was rarely any bad mentioned about Abraham Lincoln. I mean you had to be a real standup guy to have you face on five dollar bills and pennies right? But when you grow up and you start to hear additional stories and begin to read things on your own about the man you thought was awesome, things that weren't given as an assignment in school. That's when you start to become aware of the other sides to the same
