Abraham Lincoln’s Memorial
Brian von Holtz The Lincoln Memorial was built to OBVIOUSLY honor America’s 16th president Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was assassinated on April 15, 1865, he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. The Memorial was built between 1914-1922.

The Lincoln Memorial, built in 1914-1922, was to honor Abraham Lincoln, America’s 16th president. Clark Mills, who was an American sculptor, wanted multiple statues with a statue of Lincoln in the middle to be included in the monument. How ever subscriptions were insufficient. After attempting to pass 5 bills to build the monument (They were denied due to Joe Cannon) a sixth bill was passed and the monument was able to be funded and begin.
