Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He was president from 1861 to 1865. His nicknames were ‘Honest Abe’ and ‘Illinois Rail-Slitter’. Before and during his presidency he was an interesting man. Many people think that Abraham was one of the most honest and grandest presidents America has had so far.
Abraham was born February 12 1809, in Hardin (now Larue) County, Kentucky. He was born in a log cabin in the woods miles from the nearest town. He had an older sister, Sarah Lincoln Grigsby and a younger brother, Thomas Lincoln, Jr. His parents were Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks. He was tall for the age of an eight year old. Their family land was someone else’s so they moved to Indiana on December 1816.
