Abraham Lincoln was a popular American hero and helped many people during his lifetime. Abraham Lincoln did many amazing things in his life and most people have remembered him for it.
Abraham Lincoln had a really harsh childhood, but that didn’t stop him. He was born on Feb. 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, KY. His parents were Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks Lincoln. Later, they had to move to Perry County, Indiana because of a land dispute. They had to live on a small public land until they had enough to buy it. Abraham Lincoln believed that the founding fathers thought that everyone should have rights since all men are created equal. With that belief he challenged the current U.S Senator for his seat. 1860, political operatives made a campaign to help Abraham and in the end it was a four way race for president. Abraham won the election and became president. However he had a bigger problem, the Civil War. (biography.com) During the Civil War Abraham Lincoln had more power than any other president. He did many outrageous things that helped the war. The first year of the war the Union Army was discouraged by so many defeats, but Abraham was not giving up. He issued that all slaves from then on were free. Later on the army from the North had many victories and Abraham was sure that he’d only serve for one term as president. He was up against the former commander of the army, but amazingly Abraham won by a lot. This made the army of Virginia surrender and the war was over.
