Abraham was possibly the biggest abolitionist of his time. He was the 16th president of the United States and freed the slaves. He was born february 21th 1809. He ran and won his presidency in November 1860. He believed all men were created equal. He freed the slaves in 1863 after 3 years of being president. He published the Emancipation Proclamation which he stated he would do everything in his power to free the slaves. Before he was president he was elected to congress, a boatman, a store clerk, and became a lawyer in Illinois. When he was running for president he ran against Stephen A Douglas who he beat. He had a wife and four kids. His wife's name was Mary Todd Lincoln and his kids names were Robert Todd Lincoln, Tad Lincoln, Edward Baker
