One of the first questions that was brought up in the video was asked by Abraham Lincoln, and it was what the will of God was in this crisis? He did not know how to approach the problem of slavery, and his questioin was to ask what God 's want was for the country. Slavery itself brought many moral questions to the evangelical church. From the video, we look at the way the slaves were forced to live. Slaves questioned the sanctity of their marriages, the separation of the families, and the brutality brought by their masters. How is it fair that their marriages are not considered sacred, that their families are ripped apart for the benefit of the masters, and that they are beaten because they do not do their "job" correctly. The last question posed is a question that can be asked to anyone, and it is what is allowed for one human being to do to another to extract labor? What more can one man do to another to force them to work.

Scripture that was used to justify slavery by the owners can be found in Leviticus and Luke. Leviticus 25:45-46 says, "You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property. You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever.
