Once upon a time, in a dark kingdom, there was a raging brutal war. The king of the old kingdom named Postfallia, sent for his son. When his son Richard J. Williams 14th walked into the room, their eyes met, and Richard Jr. instantly knew by his father's gaze, that he would soon be the recipient of bad news. Richard Sr. sat his son down and told him that with the death of his dearest general in the line of duty, he must call upon his son to take up arms and lead the kings army. The following weeks Richard Jr. spent all of his time training, and learning the tactics of battle, as well as the makings of great leaders.…
Lincoln made a significant impact on the American Nation by his speeches and documents in at least two ways. First, he got the Union some support because of writing the Emancipation Proclamation. For example, after the Union victory at the Battle of Antietam, he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation which stated “As of January 1, 1863, all persons held as slaves within the states currently in rebellion shall be free.” (The Civil War-Section III) Although this document did not free any slaves, it made abolitionist and free blacks or escaped slaves in the North want to fight for the Union army and it cut off any alliance between the Confederacy and Britain and France.…
America has had so many different presidents all of which have had many impacts on the united states. Some stick out more than the rest and have a bigger impact and are remeber more than others. Abraham Lincoln I believe had the biggest impact on the united states. He was the 16th president and though he wasnt president for the hole term that he could be because of his assassination he still opened peoples eyes about slavery. He was a inspirational person to the majority…
The American Civil War was an inevitable conflict that was destined to take place between the Northern and Southern States. Many historians argued about the reasons that fueled the war between both States. Some historians argued, the war was fought, because both States, the North and South, had major conflicts that resulted in the division of their economy, politics and ideals towards slavery. Others argued that slavery was the root of every conflict that sparked the war, and the war from the moment it took off until the very end was about ending slavery. There were several attempts taken to try and settle the differences between both states without resulting in war; however, the tension between the North and South was too severe that the…
I believe the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 and the differences the northern and southern states had about the abolishment of slavery played a major role in why the Civil War was fought. Abraham Lincoln believed that southern states did not reserve the right to avoid the abolishment of slavery. Abraham was an anti-slavery republican who believed slavery was bad for business, and he did not want to see slavery spread to other parts of the United States. He was a strong advocate for citizens working for money instead of working for free. The idea of people being enslaved for work was not only cruel, but it also was not beneficial to America’s financial state.…
Our Nation’s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, is very well known for leading our developing nation through the civil war and abolishing slavery. That is not the whole story of Lincoln, not many know any of the other accomplishments. He shows time and time again his ability to persevere. The first real sign of his perseverance is from his childhood. During his childhood he did not go to school.…
My Dearest Friend, I fear the worse for my young and still developing country. Our goal Manifest Destiny has almost been met but with the spread of Americans across the continent seems to come the spread of the appalling act of slavery. These damn southerners have no clue to how to make an honest living. They force their slaves out into the field while they sit there and drink tea. At the end of the day, they go to count their cotton and then reap the rewards.…
The vocabulary words I chose are triumph, which means a great victory or achievement and pragmatist, someone who is practical and focused on reaching a goal. The reason they both apply is because in every chapter, the individuals who become underdogs possess both of these qualities. In chapter one David was pragmatic in his approach in defeating Goliath with alternate war tactics (rock slinging vs. armor/weaponry) and in the end was triumphant. Randadive, was triumphant in mastering the unconventional strategy of full court press; the Turkish armies irrepressible trek through turmotulous conditions in the desert, in order to triumph in battle. Then, Boeis, pragmatically pursuing his law degree despite his tremendous perceived learning disadvantage.…
Given a scenario in which a person stated they were against slavery at one time but also proclaimed they believed whites were superior over blacks during another time, which side would you think they were on? I would argue that the person was not supportive of abolishing slavery. Abraham Lincoln, the president of the United States during the Civil War, believed that slavery was immoral because he thought African Americans and whites were equivalent. Even though Abraham Lincoln presumed slavery as immoral, he doesn’t deserve the title of the “Great Emancipator.” Lincoln did not consider blacks equal when compared to whites.…
I hope you are doing well in England. My worries have yet to out burst with the politics happening here in America. One little mistake and a state can get outraged and leave the union. I am with our president Abraham Lincoln that wants to do good in this world. I this morning read in a speech that he gave with the thoughts of saving the Union.…
The common conception of President Abraham Lincoln painted the picture of a goodhearted, moral, man who wanted nothing except for the abolition of slavery. This perception, however, was completely inaccurate. Calling Lincoln the Great Emancipator instigates the idea that Lincoln was a wholehearted abolitionist; when in reality, he had no original desire to emancipate slavery. Lincoln earned this nickname through the passage of both the Confiscation Act and the Emancipation Proclamation. The two major acts were only created and passed due to a state of emergency within the United States.…
After the Nebraska and Kansas act of 1854, the problems between the North and the South grew. Lincoln’s confessed that his true goal was to stop the expansion of slavery from spreading into other territories within the nation. As war broke out, he was compelled by the Northern states and abolitionists to stress that the Union army’s main war focus was on freedom. The only problem was, Lincoln want to focus on the save the Union and reinstate the national authority over the South once more. President Lincoln wanted to preserve the Union over freeing the slaves, multiple of times he expressed his want to bring the country back together and forget about freeing the slaves entirely.…
“I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends. ”(Abraham Lincoln) The Civil War stopped slavery and north believed that slavery was bad and the south believed it was good. Slavery didn’t let different colored people vote or be free. During the Civil War, Americans were divided instead of being together and working together.…
Slavery, in the United State of America, existed for over a hundred years. Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States of America, emancipated slavery. The emancipation proclamation the was drafted in 1863, but it did not free all of the slaves. The slaves in the mutinous states were deemed legally free, but it excluded the slaves in the states that were cooperating with Lincoln. Until 1864.…
Abraham Lincoln had many challenges to overcome when he was elected President. Some of his challenges were slavery, the separation of the North and South, and the rising tensions of the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln ended slavery, brought the United States back together, and ended the Civil War. With Abraham Lincoln’s knowledge, leadership skills, and kind heart, it made him one of the best presidents in U.S. history. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a log cabin.…
