Abortion: Which Life Is Greater?

Decent Essays
Which life is greater? When thinking about abortion I personally think only about two people involved; The mother and the unborn child. Some think maybe about the father or the pregnant woman's mother, but really the relationship between the fetus and the carrying are most important in this nerve wracking decision. Each states has different abortion laws which may make the procedure harder or easier for the carrying mother. This just makes it more difficult to have a solid opinion like stated in my previous research paper. The topic is so vast and confusing that a solid thought can hardly be formed especially with differing laws in our country. However, I strongly believe that women should be able to make the decision that is best for them and not have to succumb to a law that could hurt them in the future. …show more content…
The two women then express, “At this point in your answer it is important to remind your listener that most abortions take place between the eighth and eleventh week of the pregnancy - - about six weeks after the baby's heart has started to beat.” With that statement they continue to go more into detail about how the baby’s heart is beating and that you cannot dismiss the forming life as just a blob of tissue because it is factual that the time that most women decide to abort the baby it is already in or past the important prenatal state of pregnancy therefore you are in fact killing a human in the

Abortion is a very touchy subject to a lot of people. Sometimes you can't even say the word "abortion" without getting disgusted looks from the people around you or getting a lecture about why it's a good thing. Abortion is not a good thing. Why should an innocent life be taken without even having the ability to defend itself? Why should a living thing be told that it doesn't have feelings or that it doesn't matter?…

Motherhood should never be a punishment. Abortion is a fundamental right and should stay legal in all places for all people. A common misconception about abortion is that the child is able to feel being aborted and that it hurts the fetus. But what people do not know is that the child is actually not able to feel pain until around the twentieth week of gestation. Studies show that less than two percent of abortions occur after twenty weeks.…

‘’It is just a blob of tissue, not a baby” (“Pro Life Vs Pro Choice: An Introduction to the Debate’’). Because most abortions are done with in the first trimester or slightly after, it is hard to consider it as killing a living, breathing human being. ‘’Personhood begins after a fetus is able to survive outside of the womb or after birth, not at conception’’ (“Should Abortion Be Legal?”). Out of the seven characteristics of life, five cannot be demonstrated by a fetus within the first trimester if it was to be removed from the womb of the mother. These characterizes of life are as follows: all living things grow, all living things reproduce, all living things have the ability to adapt to their environments, all living things use energy, and all living things have the ability to respond to different stimuli introduced into their environment (“The seven characteristics of life”).…

A woman’s right to privacy says that she has the right to make any decision without government interference. The government should not influence women because only they know if they are ready for a child. If a woman becomes pregnant, it is most likely her fault for being involved in sexual activity before ready to become a parent. If she is not ready to be a mother, give the child up for adoption, but do not kill it! Another right guaranteed to woman is the right to decide the number and spacing in between children, so the government has to make abortion legal.…

Abortion has been a great topic of debate for many years, both in terms of law/rights and in morality/religion. The constant debate has split people into two sides: Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. Those who are Pro-Choice believe that women have a right to decide the fate of their body, health, and life. They personally may not get an abortion, but they feel that it is still the right of the mother to choose. Abortion prevents unsafe pregnancies, protects women 's right to choose, liberates women from patriarchal control over women 's sexual and reproductive lives, and allows the mother to choose whether, when, and how often to have a child.…

In recent discussions of women having abortion, a controversial issues has been whether it should be against the law or not for women to have an abortion. On one hand, some argue that it should be against the law for women to have an abortion because some a portion of the population thinks it should illegal since the mother is ending her pregnancy by killing the baby. They believe it is considered murder since the mother is practically killing the fetus. On the other hand, however, others argue that women should be allowed to have an abortion if they want to because if the individual believes that she is not able to support the baby or does not want to have it due to personal issues, then the mother should be able to abort the pregnancy.…

As any social issue, abortions are one of the many topics that everyone seems to have an opinion on. According to the 2012 Merriam-Webster dictionary, an abortion is, “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus as a spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation--miscarriage, the induced expulsion of a human fetus, or the expulsion of a fetus by a domestic animal often due to infection at any time before completion of pregnancy.” (Elliot) Abortions; like every controversial issue, will most likely never be agreed upon by the human race. In the midst of the controversy, two groups have arose.…

Abortion is a huge problem that has caused a wide range of controversy all over the United States. There are two sides to the problem, which are people who oppose abortion or support it. Abortion becomes a big deal when trying to decide whether a fetus should be considered a human being already when a woman aborts. In my case I believe that a woman should not be able to abort a child inside her unless there is some type of serious medical issue where the child may not come out alive. When a woman aborts a child, they did not want, it is like the killing of another human being who had no say or ever did anything wrong to deserve it.…
