“I do not want to have this baby. What am I going to do?”. There comes a time in a woman’s life when she may be unsure about whether she wants to go through with the pregnancy. The very thought of having to bear a child for nine long months could have the woman feeling overwhelmed. When a woman feels anxious, overwhelmed or unsure about having a baby there is one protected and legal option that she can turn to. Abortion. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a pregnancy and often it happens within the first trimester of the pregnancy. In the famous Roe v Wade court case the Supreme Court made abortion legal in all 50 states once they realized that a woman has a right to privacy. Even though abortion is legal in all 50 states there are other states that have certain restrictions on women having abortions. With the legalization of abortion women finally thought they were going to be in control of their reproductive health without having to hear a peep from anyone else when clearly that is not the case. A woman is questioned, judged and scrutinized every time she mentions the idea of getting an abortion. Women should be able to get an abortion freely without the judgmental stares they face from their peers and family.
