Abortion
It is and estimated that up to 78,000 deaths occur each year as a result of the approximately 20 million illegal and unsafe abortion procedures that take place worldwide. In contrast 1.2 million abortions are performed each year. 6.4 million women get pregnant every year, and 1.2 million of those babies are aborted almost every year. When a woman aborts her baby, that means they’re leaving them. They are removing the human embryo from the pregnant woman before the complete term of that pregnancy.
Abortion is the act of removing a human embryo or fetus from the uterus of a pregnant woman prior to the completion of the full term pregnancy (Rich). For a bit, abortion was considered homicide and everyone was against it. People then realized that the laws surrounding abortion were vague. On January 22, 1973, the Roe V. Wade Act was passed, which allowed abortion in the US.
The primary concern when doing an abortion is the safety and health of the woman. There are regulations with a legal abortion being performed, and specific requirements. Several states have introduced legislation aimed at restricting medical abortions including an attempt to halt the distribution and marketing of the drug used for nonsurgical abortions, and restricting abortion payments from public funding for low-income women (Rich). Most women who want or need abortion cannot afford it because they have such a low income, and they are trying to support themselves.
