Abortion Should Be Legal
Women should have the right to choose for themselves if it is in the best interest to have an abortion considering the rights, health of the woman and baby and the situation surround her. Taking away the right to an abortion is taking away the right to choose. It is a basic right that everyone should have. The health of the woman should be put over the babies. Therefor if the woman's life is in danger she should be allowed to have an abortion. “No one should be forced to have a child she doesn’t wish to have” (Soloman 163).If a woman is in a situation where she can not take care of a baby or does not want the baby she should not have to have the baby. According to Naral Pro Choice America, some women are being discouraged by anti choice extremists setting up fake abortion clinics to mislead women. These clinics are set up as abortion clinics and seem legitimate but the doctors there try to talk the women out of an abortion, lie and even make them feel bad for thinking about having an abortion. Pro-Choice is an organization promoting the right to choose. They are fighting to decriminalize, make abortion legal and making it easier to have an abortion. ¨A woman can never be equal if she is denied the basic right to make her own decisions¨ (Annis 170). The term for a legal and safe abortion does not fit the definition for murder. Murder is when you kill someone intentionally with malice. According to an article by Tom Head “If a woman and her physician think they are killing a non-sentient organism then they would not be committing murder” (Head 1). Let's say you were going on a hunting trip with your dad and you mistook him for a deer and shot him no malice or premeditation was involved, and everyone agrees it was an accident then that is accidental murder. Murder implies malice, intentional and premeditated were involved in killing someone. Wanting an abortion is not saying the woman has malice toward the baby or feels good about hurting the fetus. “From the point of view of someone who believes that every fertilized egg is a sentient human person, abortion would horrific, tragic, and lethal. But it wouldn't be any more murderous than any other kind of accidental death.” (Head 1) Therefore abortion is not
