Since the hormones are blocked the uterine lining begins to fall off, the cervix begins to soften and bleeding may occur. Then when the mother take Misoprostol the uterus contracts and the pregnancy is usually gone within six to eight hours. Since the woman controls when she takes the second medication she has some control over when the bleeding and cramping starts and how bad it is.
