The two questions being; when do the child's rights kick in, and when do the women's right to have an abortion kick in . The 1973 case of Roe v. Wade gave women the right to terminate their pregnancy for any reason they feel fit. Banning abortions does not mean that the practice will stop it merely means that women will seek unsafe ways to obtain them (Rich 2016).There are approximately 22 million unsafe abortions every year globally. Because of these unsafe abortions many women undergo severe physical, psychological, and financial issues (Assifi et al 2016). Woman obtain illegal abortion because they believe of have no other choice, this could be due to lack of information and or resources. If a women does self terminate she faces the risk of inflammation, infection, hemorrhage, kidney failure, infertility, and an increased tendency toward future miscarriages (Rich 2016). Women are shamed for getting abortions, but if they don't get them with an unwanted pregnancy they are forced to carry a child that they may not be prepared for. Providing women with safe abortions prevent women from getting illegal and unsafe abortions that can cause trauma, serious injuries, and in some cases death. Some of the reasons that women seek abortions are as follows; 21% say inadequate finances, 21% sat they are not ready for the responsibility, 16% say their life would be changed to much, 12% say they have problems with their relationships or they are unmarried, 11% are too young and or immature, 3% say that the baby has birth defects, less than 1% say they have one due to rape or incest (Gerdts 2016). Even though it is reported that less than 1% of the reason women need and seek abortion is rape or incest, the deciding factor in either we are “allowed” to get one is for that very
