Imagine a mother getting mad at her son because he failed an Algebra test, or a mother getting mad at her daughter because she did not do the laundry. The mother decides to come home one day after work and shoot her child in the head. Naturally, she is charged with first degree murder. Now, imagine a mother getting pregnant with a child and deciding to get an abortion, the killing of an innocent being. This mother has no penalty to pay. Every year approximately 40-50 million abortions OCCUR yearly all over the world (“Abortions worldwide this year” 1). According to “Abortion Risks,” “ a 1997 government funded study in Finland, women who abort are approximately four times more likely to die in the following year than women who carry their pregnancies to term.” It also states that, “The leading causes of abortion related maternal deaths within a week of the surgery are hemorrhage, infection, embolism, anesthesia, and undiagnosed ectopic pregnancies. Legal abortion is reported as the fifth leading cause of maternal death in the United States, though in fact it is recognized that most abortion-related deaths are not officially reported as such.” Having an abortion can put harm to your body, and not only kill the baby but kill the woman too. Having one or more abortions, the risk of death rises each time. As “Abortion Risks” explains, “The first found that the risk of death following abortion remains higher in each of the first ten years following the abortion. The second found that the risk of death increases with each abortion, 45% after one abortion, 114% after two abortions, and 192 percent after three or more abortions.” Having an abortion can only harm a woman's body. If the woman is not harmed right away they will be harmed in the long run. Having an abortion can make you very sick. Some risks you are taking are having 100.4° fever, severe back pain, bleeding that is heavier than a Normal period, foul smelling discharge, damage to other organs, and death (“Possible Physical Side effects after Abortion” 1). As Kenneth McIntosh and Masha McIntosh says, “ Doctors were concerned about the growing number of women who were too poor to obtain safe abortions and who were injured or even killed from unsafe, illegal procedures.” Doctors are concerned that if saying no to a woman who wants an abortion, they will try illegal abortions. They are going to try to kill the baby alone, and end up killing

Abortions are one of the most controversial topics debated, with their being two sides: “pro-life” or “pro-choice”. Pro-life advocates argue that an abortion is a woman's right to choose, and women should be able to make decisions that involve their body and health. Pro-life advocates argue that an abortion is considered murder, with the reason being that an unborn child is living, fully human, helpless and voiceless while developing inside the womb (K, Brown). Although countless individuals feel that abortions should be a woman's right to choose, abortions should be illegal altogether because it denies and deprives the rights of life, can result in medical complications and psychological trauma for women, and because of the fact that a fetus is capable of feeling pain. TFP Student Action states since the…
