Every day, 125,000 children lose the chance to experience life, and 50 million a year, all due to abortion. Abortion is the deliberate termination of one’s pregnancy, in simpler terms, the abandoning of a child before it is born. There are many different types of abortions, including surgical abortion, which involves physically removing the fetus and other related material from the body. Another form of abortion comes with taking pills or other medicines to cease the formation of the child. All of these different ways end in the same result, with the child that has already been created not having the chance to birth. Under title 18 of the U.S. codes, the government has set up an extra charge on the persecutor of a pregnant woman. The motive behind this extra penalty is that the child in the mother has rights as others do, although it is not a human outside of the fetus. The United States of America is governed by strict laws and codes in order to prevent chaos and set a boundary for everybody to abide by, and by adding another code specifically for the unborn, the care for and attention to those in their mother’s is prominent. In the 18 Code, a child in utero refers to any member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage in development, who is carried within the womb (“18 US Code”). This explicitly defines what a child in the utero is referring to, in regards to anybody becoming confused about the child’s state of life. This Code doesn’t specifically affect those who commit violent acts, as murdering or harming an individual is unlawful in the first place.
