When people make these decisions do they ever think about the unborn child? Abortion is a deliberate termination of an unborn fetus. People should think about all the brainpower and all the amazing things those children could have done. Instead, they were killed because the mother didn't want them or couldn't support them. Abortions worldwide do more harm than good; therefore, abortions worldwide should be illegal because they are an act of murder against defenseless unborn babies, abortions can cause psychological damage to the mothers, and abortions …show more content…
In "Abortion and mental health” Coleman proposes that, “Women who had undergone an abortion experienced an 81% increased risk of mental health problems.” (Coleman 1) After an abortion women are more likely to have psychological damage to their brains. Abortions cause mothers to go through mental and emotional pain. Women would experience less mental pain if they were to give the baby up for adoption. A consistent finding has been that mental illness’ and subsequent mental health problems after either abortion or childbirth are increased. (Cameron 657) Women who had abortions are at a 59 percent increased risk for suicidal thoughts and a 61 percent increased risk for mood disorders. Emotional and psychological effects following abortion are more common than physical side effects and can range from mild regret to more serious complications such as depression. (Coleman 1) Women are at a much greater risk of psychological damage after an abortion. A woman would not have to withstand a pregnancy brought on by a tragic event. A child would not have to suffer through a life with lower than standard qualities due to birth defects. Parents should have that power to decide what is best for their child’s welfare. Abortions decrease risk of overpopulation and serve as a way to control the abundance of children in foster care. I am pro-choice, but not because I do not value human life, and most certainly not because I hate children. I believe that human life is of the utmost importance, but I also think that women’s rights are essential. It is not inhumane, or unfair for women to seek out an abortion, it is their medical decision, and it is their right to have control over their own body. People state that the mother could simply give the child up for adoption, but that may not be the best option, and there are a number of reasons as to why someone would seek out an abortion. Pregnancies can be extremely costly, and the mother may be unable to afford to keep the child.…

There are about 1.1 million abortions performed each year in the United States alone. This accounts for about 1/4 of all pregnancies. “Approximately 1/3 of American women have had an abortion by age 45” (Guttmatcher). As a baby lover, these statistics are really hard for me to wrap my head around. There are over a million babies dead that could be learning how to walk and talk.…

Motherhood should never be a punishment. Abortion is a fundamental right and should stay legal in all places for all people. A common misconception about abortion is that the child is able to feel being aborted and that it hurts the fetus. But what people do not know is that the child is actually not able to feel pain until around the twentieth week of gestation. Studies show that less than two percent of abortions occur after twenty weeks.…

Reproduction is a choice. “The international system of human rights recognizes that women have reproductive rights that should be recognized and protected by the State. These reproductive rights include our right to decide whether to procreate or not procreate, the right to decide when to procreate, the right to get information and access to safe and effective methods of birth control, and the right to get free healthcare services when we decide to interrupt a pregnancy in progress” (Martínez). No woman should be denied an abortion as she should not be denied to have a child as well. There are also women who never had the right in the first place.…

“When a man steals to satisfy hunger, we can safely assume that there is something wrong in society so when a woman destroys the life of her unborn child, it is evidence that either by education or circumstances she has been greatly wronged.” Said by Mattie Brinkerhoff. Abortion is increasing tremendously. There are 40-50 million abortions that occur per year, that means there are 125,000 unborn babies that die every day. In fact, Frank Pavone states that “If we took a moment of silence for each person lost to abortion we would be silent for over 100 years.”…

If a woman is pregnant and decides she doesn 't want an abortion just because she doesn 't want a kid. Then I feel she should just give it up for adoption. Abortions should NOT be used to terminate ANY unwanted pregnancy. If a woman wants to abort a child, I feel she should have a good reason such as: not having the money to do so, under 18, mentally unwell, or the mother 's life is at stake. The consequences of my viewpoint may be teens having sex more often and just having abortions if they don 't want the…

Abortion, in less harsh terms, is the termination of a pregnancy due to reasons of rape, incest, issues with the mother’s health, or just an unwanted pregnancy. Many believe abortion is simply the murder of an innocent life. Over 56 million unborn children have been aborted; that is 1 abortion every 24 seconds. Many people believe that abortion is morally wrong for many reasons. First, life starts at the moment of conception (the mother and father have created a new life).…

Abortion is a huge problem that has caused a wide range of controversy all over the United States. There are two sides to the problem, which are people who oppose abortion or support it. Abortion becomes a big deal when trying to decide whether a fetus should be considered a human being already when a woman aborts. In my case I believe that a woman should not be able to abort a child inside her unless there is some type of serious medical issue where the child may not come out alive. When a woman aborts a child, they did not want, it is like the killing of another human being who had no say or ever did anything wrong to deserve it.…

One health risk is psychological damage to mothers who had abortions. Chittom and Newton (2016) reported that “sadness, depression, guilt, anxiety, numbness, and shame are just a few of the psychological effects common to women who had abortions.” According to “Should Abortion be Legal” (2016), a study done by BMC Magazine reported that women who had abortions often have higher anxiety levels and are 154% more likely to commit suicide than other women. The Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology reported a study on the effects on men whose partners had abortions and it found that 51.6% had regrets, 45.2% felt sadness, and 25.8% experienced depression (“Should Abortion be Legal,” 2016). Chittom and Newton (2016) note that Pro-Life activists often explain the long term emotional, spiritual, psychological, and physical trauma after the procedure as post-abortion syndrome, which is not officially recognized by the medical world.…
