Summary Of Abortion By Carolyn C. Gargaro

Good Essays
In a book about opposing viewpoints about abortion, Carolyn C. Gargaro states that, “Now, I cannot think of any doctor that would kill a newborn baby the moment that it was born. My question is, now, can that baby be killed a minute before it is born, or a minute before that, or a minute before that? You see what I’m getting at. At what minute can one consider life to be worthless and at the next minute that life to be precious?” (Williams 38). Clearly, there is not a single minute that one can consider life to be worthless. Every minute after conception, a baby is forming because that baby is alive, and every life is precious. Abortion is like closing a book before it is opened, before it is published, before the story is written. Abortion …show more content…
In a book about opposing viewpoints of abortion, Carolyn C. Gargaro states that, “the fetus is a completely separate life from the woman. It has a completely different blood type and genetic code; it is not just a part of the mother’s body. Just because the unborn is dependent on the mother for nine months…should not deprive a helpless human being the fundamental right to live” (Williams 39). There are numerous people living on this earth that are dependent on someone else to care for them. If someone killed them, that would be considered murder. What is so different when it comes to a helpless, unborn baby? Each individual person has a different blood type, and a different DNA, so does a fetus. A fetus is a living being. Getting rid of the fetus would be ending the life of a living being. Abortion is the ridding of a fetus. Abortion is ending the life of a living being. That is exactly what Pro-Life advocates think. Zoran Minderovic, the Prime Minister of Croatia, wrote in his article about abortion saying, “‘pro-life’ forces define abortion as murder” (1). Because the Pro-Life campaign believes that abortion is murder, they do not support abortion. Benjamin J. Stein, a Pro-Life supporter, made a statement about the violence of abortion saying, “Now, I want to be the first to admit that not everyone sees abortion as the ending of a life…They see the baby in the sonogram looking like a baby and they don’t believe it’s a baby. The answer to this question lies within the debate of whether the baby inside the womb is alive or not. Numerous studies prove that there is life inside the womb. Since any and all blastocysts and fetuses have life, getting rid of them would be killing them. Abortion is explained as getting rid of the fetus, so abortion is ending the lives of the fetuses. Many religions also like to point out that everyone, born or unborn, is special in the eyes of God, and should not be killed. Additionally, there are countless reasons why abortion should be seen as a choice. This can be seen as being for and against abortion. Even when given the choice to have an abortion, some choose not to because they believe abortion is

So, this means that people would always believe that killing a human is wrong no matter what the situation is. Krisi Brown wrote in her article 10 Reasons Not To Have An Abortion, “From the moment of fertilization – better known as conception – a new human life is in existence. Ending this life is not ending “potential.” It is ending a life” (Brown). She believes that because there is a human life that is relevant to the world, you should not be able to kill it. If it is a double homicide to kill a mother and a child, then why isn’t it considered murder when a fetus is aborted.…

Abortions are not performed before the eighth week, so all children involved in abortions feel the pain of them being taken out of their mother who decided to give them the terrible fate of death (Abortion Facts). The sixth commandment in the bible states, “Thou shalt not kill,” this applies to all human beings, born or unborn. The decision to kill an unborn child because of the fact that he or she will have disabilities is discrimination. Physical limitations do not make any being less of a living, breathing human (abortion). One cannot cure a baby by taking its life.…

A women should not be called a murderer if she chooses to remove what she’s unwillingly grown within herself. During the abortion, the fetus will undergo the painless procedure without the knowledge of it even occurring. If abortions were to be banned, the procedure would continue to take place illegally and unsafely, as there are millions of women willing to jeopardize their lives by undergoing an unsafe abortion. Every year in countries where abortion is banned, an estimated 47,000 women die during high-risk illegal abortion operations, not including the thousands left injured or harmed. Is allowing mothers to die with the fetus due to an unsafe abortion moral?…

Abortion is a procedure that murders innocent lives that cannot defend themselves. People that agree with abortion say that an unborn baby has no constitutional rights, and that it is okay to end a human life because the baby is not an American citizen yet. When a pregnant mother is killed it is considered a double homicide, yet when a baby is aborted it is not considered murder. Abortion is a problem in today’s society, causing a division; it is morally wrong because it is considered to be murder. Abortion is performed two different ways, both ways have temporary and long term damage to who would have been a mother.…

Right now, thousands of children around the world are in a ‘live or die’ situation, in which their mother decides, without even them knowing, whether to keep or terminate them. Because this topic of abortion covers a wide range of aspects, this essay will present two groups. The Pro-Choice group who argue that a women has a right to abortion, because it is her body and she can choice what she wants to do with it. The Pro-Life group who argues that the women should not have a right to choose if she gets an abortion because the baby is alive and also has a choice in say. Although many people would disagree that a woman should be able to make her own choices on what she does to her body, abortion is something that should be optional to the woman…

This analogy is challenging the more extreme view held by those in opposition to abortion. This view finds abortion “impermissible even to save the mother’s life.” Imagine a woman has become pregnant and in the same day learns of a newly developed heart disease that will kill her if she carries her baby to term. The baby has a right to life, but so does the woman. Thomson brings up the argument most familiar. “Performing the abortion would be directly killing the child, whereas doing nothing would not be killing the mother, but letting her die.” The conclusion that is drawn from this scenario is that your own right to life gives you the moral right to “unplug” yourself if your life is threatened.…

People that are pro-life believe that abortion should be made illegal once again because it is the killing of babies. People that are pro-choice believe that abortion should be kept legal because women have the right to make the choice. Since at the time of abortion, the fetus isn’t technically a baby, the pro-life views seem unreasonable to pro-choice supporters. There is a reason that the abortions are only allowed to happen within the first 24 weeks; the ‘fetus’, which is still a clump of cells at that point, can’t survive on its own outside the…

People, who believe in “Pro-choice”, believe that a fetus is not human life and does not have any human rights while in the mother’s womb. Pro-choice does let the mother choose how she wants to go about aborting her child. There’s a pill and surgical ways to abort a child. Now the abortion method is determined by how far long the mother is, i.e. the baby’s age.…

When a person considers all of these negative, and life-threatening, outcomes of abortion, one should conclude as abortion made illegal once and for all. A human and a fetus both have a heartbeat; killing a human is illegal because it stops the heartbeat, causing the person to die. When a mother has an abortion, she kills the fetus by stopping the heartbeat. Murder and abortion go hand in hand, however abortion is legal and murder remains…
