My rights are limited to myself and end when they could collide with someone else’s rights. In light of this, the government dictating what I can and cannot do with my body is a prime example of the government sticking their nose where it does not belong. In 1973, in Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court ruled that a "right of privacy" allows a woman to abort her fetus before it is viable (Medoff 2010). Taking this into consideration, any regulations or laws that create an undue burden on women trying to get an abortion before the fetus is viable, should be considered unconstitutional. States along the bible belt have the most problems with abortion, therefore they typically make it harder to have an abortion. States get around dealing with cases that could be ruled unconstitutional by making it difficult for abortion clinics to keep their doors open and implementing the fear of judgement. In doing so, they are no longer creating an undue burden on women seeking abortions. Thinking outside the box, the harder it is to get an abortion, the more women there are who are forced to keep a child they cannot provide for. This will lead them to utilize government assistance, in many different forms, which is already underfunded. Also statistically the child will follow in the mother’s footsteps, which could possibly lead to a never ending cycle of generations after generations utilizing government assistance to the fullest. Another thing to consider is women and young girls hurting and,potentially, killing themselves attempting to get rid of the unwanted fetus. A lot of young girls and women are ashamed of having a baby out of wedlock. To avoid being judged and getting other parties involved, they do things such as turn to home remedy forms of abortion such as: ingesting large amounts of vinegar, consuming dangerous drugs, hitting themselves in the stomach, and more. In addition to those examples, doctors do make mistakes and could possibly overlook things that determine a complicated pregnancy.
