They are called Fetal rights and currently only thirty eight states have fetal right laws. They became especially popular during the Roe vs Wade case because many people against abortion pushed for laws to still protect unborn babies. In 2004 The Unborn Victims of Violence Act was passed. The law is also known as the Laci and Conner’s Law. What this law does is if a mother while pregnant is injured or killed while pregnant. The person responsible would be charged for two peoples lives instead of one. Unfortunately this law still protects women who choose to abort their baby illegally or legally. It only comes into effect in situations that the mother had not consented to the death or injury of her unborn child. Again this is another way that shows people regard unborn babies as a human life only when they see fit. If a woman is murdered while eight weeks along the murder will be charged with two counts if another woman walks into an abortion clinic and has the baby aborted around eight weeks people call it a human right. Ninety percent of women choose to abort their baby when finding out the baby has down syndrome. The A K.I.D.S exchange program has reported that they have over one hundred families who want to adopt down syndrome babies and have already been approved (source). There are even longer lists of people who want to adopt terminally ill babies. The list of people wanting to adopt babies with aids is just as long. So even if there are health problems with the baby people should know there are people willing to adopt and the numbers of people looking to adopt increase each year. Instead of funding money to abort babies, the government should begin to fund on making adoption easier to
