People often say the death penalty is cruel or morally wrong, but people have gotten away with way too much in the past and more states need to add the death penalty again. “When murder is punished by death fewer criminals will murder.” “When murder is punished with nothing worse than prison, more criminals will be emboldened to kill.” The death penalty should be the last resort for the worst of the worst and in certain situations like for cop killers. Cops are always running to where danger is and with everything going on in the last year between cops and racism the cops feel like they don’t have as much protection from the states now. There was a man who ambushed and killed five police officers in Dallas and he is still alive. Another criminal killed officer Jose Chavez in anger and left his children without their dad. California has 746 inmates on death row, but endless legal appeals make it impossible to get done. Prison assaults are less likely in larger prisons, but there are still thousands of inmates on death row that will never face the ultimate punishment. Government agencies are currently trying to reduce overcrowding to let people out who do less violent crimes. Tax payers pay an average of 3 million in lifetime cost which is 1.9 million more than no death cases, or four to ten million for each life
